Autumn is a harvest season. Last Friday we had a special sports meeting. I think it was special for it has been a week since we had an opening ceremony because of rain. The students were all very excited and the whole school was alive.

      There were many events in the sports meeting, such as long jump, high jump, relay race, long-distance race and rope skipping. I took great interest in the 800-metre race because one of my friends took part in it. At first, she was so fast that nobody could run ahead of her. I thought she would be able to come first. However, everything seemed to go wrong after 600 meters’ race, She was being left behind. At last, she was just the tenth of the race. I saw her sitting on the grass, crying, with face turning red. I tried my best to comfort her .Now that she has tried her best, nothing is worth regretting.

      Another student who took part in the sports meeting also failed in his part. I began to worry about her. However, she said, “That doesn’t matter. Although I didn’t win, I’m

      also a champion, aren’t I? The purpose of the competition is not to win, but to challenge ourselves and form a habit of exercising. We should have a never-say-no attitude.” I was surprised at her words, but that was really true. 

      In the game, players have to face not only the physical test, but also the psychological test. Players at the school sports meeting truly reflects the spirit of hard work and perseverance, it gives us the feeling of accomplishment. 

      As far as I am concerned, no matter what the result would be, the spirit must be spoken highly of by everyone.
